BLOSSOM THERABBIT

One of our rabbits, “Blossom Therabbit” passed away May 1 after GI illness and old age. That’s Blossom on the left with “Sweet Pea”, warming themselves by a fire with a plate of greens. Blossom and Sweet Pea were a pair of “bonded” bunnies – in Star Trek terms that means they shared each other’s “katra” (soul). Being bonded also means that they were each other's constant and forever companion.

Bunnies are funny little beasties – their diets are comparable to a horse’s: timothy hay, carrots, celery, leafy greens. A raisin is much appreciated. Blossom much preferred the “mélange du printemps”.

"The buns" loved a good romp about the living room. After that they would settle in for a night of TV. "Law and Order" is Sweet Pea's favorite program. Classic "Law and Order" mind you; none of those damn spin-offs.

Once Law and Order or what ever we were watching was over about 11:00, the buns would hustle themseleves back into their pen (in my office), expecting their nightly raisin. Sometimes they would do this on their own.

Rabbits are not good pets for children – you spend a lot of time cleaning up after them plus they’ll destroy every stick of furniture you have in the house, heh heh.

Nevertheless … they are gentle, good natured and good humored beings. They tend to return any attention you give them in kind …Little sprites really.

Blossom now joins Boxanne in Animal Valhalla!
